Zama Gcaba “The Skinny Chef” Collaborated With Nyala!

1 min read

Zama Gcaba aka “The Skinny Chef” learnt how to cook from her grandmother, Ma Sithebe who was her biggest influence and taught Zama all the traditional dishes she knows.

The Umlazi-born chef recently collaborated with Nyala, a maize brand that goes back more than half a century. Rich in heritage, it remains deeply entrenched in KwaZulu-Natal and a firm favorite within this South African community to bring about an initiative called Ziqhenye With Tasty Meals which is aimed at celebrating the Zulu culture and moments that are created with meals made with pride using Nyala maize products.

She has been sharing traditional recipes with a modern twist such as “Isigwaqane” and many others that give her nostalgic memories of growing up in a Zulu household and the moments they used to share on her social media. Her recipe is also found on some of the Nyala samp and Nyala maize meal packages.

Zama is a hardworking woman who does not forget her roots no matter the level of success, she is an inspiration to many women of all ages as she is an attestation that no matter what background you are from, you can still bring your dreams to life if you work hard for them.
