The good done by the entertainer, better known as Zodwa Wabantu, tend to get lost in sensationalism, and emotional reaction to her actions. Last December, the entertainer launched a fragrance range, Touchable Zodwa Wabantu. It was an entrepreneurial initiative coming from someone whose spirit could not be dampened by discouraging comments uttered to her little ears when growing up. Famous for her vosho dance moves, Zodwa Wabantu has revealed she grew up told she would amount to nothing.

Not easily deterred, the entertainer knew she could and would amount to something.
“Looking at where I come from, I feel blessed to be celebrated whilst I am still alive, and still at the top of my game in my career. It’s a privilege,” says Zodwa Wabantu who describes herself as a go-getter.

The entertainer has cautioned that no child should be placed in a position to struggle and do what she had to do to put food on the table. Interviewed by Mo Flava on Metro FM she said: “The way I was so poor, I couldn’t even think or dream of what I wanted to be. I just wanted to sleep with my tummy full.”

Over a year-ago, Zodwa Wabantu took to Instagram to announce the good news. She was doing what some personalities, artists, and entertainers fail to do when the sun was shining brighter. She posted pictures of an under construction three-bedroom house she was building in Nelspruit, where she plans to retire. Through the construction of a home for herself, Zodwa was setting a good example in the showbiz industry. It’s a field where some famous names later become charity cases or homeless when gigs dry-out.

“We have chosen to celebrate personalities, performers, artists, and entertainers when they are still alive. Some may be uncomfortable with celebrating Zodwa’s life because of her character and or some of the things she might have done. Still, it will be unfortunate to throw the baby Zodwa out with the bucket. Ignoring and not celebrating the good and positive things she is doing or projecting will be a mistake,” says Victor Selaelo, Whitley Neill Marketing manager.
